Notes: Safflower seeds produce the which is mostly used in varnishes and paint because it does not go yellow after application. It is also more commonly known as a cooking oil. Once the oil is extracted from the flower the remaining husk known as seedcake, is used as food for cattle. This flower is an annual plant that is related to the commonly seen thistle. Varieties of this plant yield different amounts of oil content and can differ in the color of the flower and the amount of spines.
