Notes: This Monastery is famous as the seat of the Russian Orthodox Church. It was built in the 14th century. The name of this town was changed to Zagorsk named after a communist party boss as a reward in the 1930's. The town now is known again as by its original name ofwas originally Sergiev Posad. It took over six centuries to build the monastary and churches. It is now a major tourist attraction and a working Russian Orthodox church with parishoners coming each week & on holy days.
