It is a 5.5-mile s:"cantilever" and s:"truss span" with a vertical clearance of 185 feet. During the weekdays it carries 60,000 commuters daily between s:"Contra Costa" and s:"Marin Counties". Going west it is a magnificent introduction to s:"Marin County", the s:"California Pacific Coast", and the Redwood Empire to the north. It was completed in s:"1956", with the sale of $62 million in revenue bonds, and a loan of $4.68 million from the State School Land Fund.
