This station was established in1820. The present lighthouse
was built in1859 and was fully automated in1986. It is made of
granite and brick and the towere has a height of 58 feet with
the focal plane at the height of 82 feet.
The original optic was a Second order Fresnel (1855). The
present optic is a soral powered FA-251. It flashes white every
15 seconds and its fog horn blasts once every 30 seconds.
It is and active U.S. Coast Guard aid to navigation. The island
is managed by the State of New Hampshire and the Department of
Parks and Recreation.
