..About the Boeing-757 The 1970s brought many new challenges to the air travel industry. Rising oil prices, environmental concerns and inflation had airlines scrambling for solutions. They needed quiet, fuel-efficient and cost-effective jets. During this time, Boeing planned the new twin-engine 757.

The 757-200, introduced in 1982, at that time unsurpassed in fuel efficiency, can climb faster and fly higher than any other single-aisle twinjet. Because of its performance, the 757 can use airports limited by runway length, high altitude, hot weather and weight restriction. And this twinjet is approved for some of the most noise-sensitive airports in the world.

As shippers worldwide discovered the efficiencies of transporting goods by air, the 757F (freighter) version proved a valuable workhorse. It hauls both large container shipments and overnight express packages.

The 757, developed at the same time as the twin-aisle wide-body
767, shares common advances in propulsion, aerodynamics, avionics and materials. Despite the size difference between the two models, flight crews certified on one can fly the other. This advantage has led many operators to structure their fleets with both the 757 and 767. In January of 1997 Boeing announced a new stretch version of this maginifecent airliner.

I personaly think that the 757 is one of the most beautiful looking airliners of all time.
