STATION CAMP GPS Coordinate: 46° 14. 50 N 123° 54.40 W
Lewis & Clark camped in this area from 15 to 25 November 1805 with the rest of thier party. From this point in southern Washington State they saw the Pacific Ocean and understood at thatthey had completed the mission assigned to them by President Thomas Jefferson. Their overland journey established a new claim for the United States to this region. On Highway 101 close to two miles west of the Astoria/Megler Bridge in the Lewis and Clark Campsite State Park, Station Camp is commemorated by a chainsaw sculpture of Lewis and Clark.
